Anyone remember that corny B-flick Krull about the tower that is always moving around?

Well it just made me think of an idea for a monster in GW. It would be a level 24-28 monster, possibily a boss of some sort. He might have some cronies around as well to keep him from being solo farmed. He'd also have a different skill bar each day (and maybe he could randomly spawn as a different class monster with a different skill bar) based on that campaign and perhaps one of the elites for that campaign as well. He'd also have a fairly good chance of dropping a gold item each time you kill him, maybe as much as 10%-20%, and would have 2-3 drops when you kill him. Or he could have a unique collectors item and if you get 7 of them, you can trade them in for your choice of a wide variety of weapons, a suit of a unique skin armor only the collector has, or something like that.

Here's the catch: he's in every chapter in GW, but he moves around to a different zone every day or every so many hours, forcing people to find him again each day and making it more difficult for botters to keep up with him. Maybe make him only findable in HM for an added challenge. I was also thinking that there could be a repeatable quest to find him (one per chapter per day), but that might be a bit much.

As a bonus, there could be titles for how many times you've killed this guy or in how many different zones you've defeated him in.

So what should the mob be? It could be anything imo, from a dragon that moves around to a rich but eccentric merchant that likes playing hide and seek.

Thoughts?

Good idea... just... to good, many people will be farming it. GW doesn't want that "good chance of droping gold" won't happen "2 drops" good idea, "Unique collectors item," as I said, too good of an idea. People will be selling the collectors items which isn't bad. There would be a lot. I'd say that the monster shouldn't be Farmed, have to go with group. (I.E. 2-4) Give him/her monster some bodyguards, and make 5 monsters in 5 different locations for armor items. Lower it a bit, don't make it to easy nor to hard. The catch, makes it to hard for GW to make, repeatable quest will get old, having him walk around the area so you have to find him, or he goes to you, not bad. Good idea though.

i like the idea of him being a completely random spawn in any location and only in HM, cause we dont want a lvl 28 mob appearing in istan with a lvl 6 and below group >.<,

but yea if he is compleatly random then there is no way to farm him, i mean i guess you can go in and out of town and hope he spawns, but with all of the areas in gw it would be like a 1 in a billion chance lol.

so yea it would be good to be doing stuff in pve then find this guy and kick his ass and get good rewards. and it would be cool if at least one thing dropped for each person, would make things so much more interesting in Gw.

I like the idea generally but imagine this do you mean he appears in missions as well? what if he pops up in an annoying spot and gets you killed in Urgoz or something. It could have problems but if they fine a way to restrict where he can appear on certain maps then i'd be fine with it. /signed

Maybe he has like a 1% chance of randomly appearing somewhere in an explorable zone when you zone out (besides the very tiny zones or those with no monsters). That would make it hard to systematically farm or exploit by checking empty zones for it, but provide a pleasant surprise for travelers.

Murtaugh, he could appear in tyrian missions, but if he did, it'd be best if ANet limited him to out of the way places or bonus spots if possible. For factions and NF, it'd be best if he only appeared in the explorable areas instead of the missions themselves.

Masamune, I would have it such that he would pick a zone and stay in that zone for a set time and then he'd pick another one. For instance, he'd be in the jaya bluffs or whatever for X hours or until he was killed Y times in that zone, then he'd move on to another zone, like somewhere out in the jade sea. I also think while it should be random, the curve of appearing should slightly favor places being less visited in HM... mineral springs or the places where the Mo/Ds HM farm would be more unlikely spots for instance.

I was also thinking that the lucky titles could possibly effect his chance of spawning in that certain zone. Seeing as how it has an effect on other things instead of just being a title. So Ill go with it.

Maw, the Mountain Heart has a very, very little chance to appear instead one of the random spawning bosses in most of Southern Shiverpeaks.
He's the only monster that can do that.

But this would be much better. This would be like a 'bonus gold mob' you can randomly find anywhere... you could have is spawned and you'll never know if you don't clean the area.

It could be more than one monster. Yeah. It could be a 'super boss' a 'gold version' of a creature. There could be spiders, spider bosses, and The Gold Spider, and Mandragors, Mandragor Bosses, and The Gold Mandragor.

Then... you make them different so:
- Appear randomly in any of the 18 dungeons, and spawns only if you have killed at least 25 enemies.
- Be level 30 (33 in hard mode) and have around 3000-6000HP.
- Be alone, not linked to other mobs, but may spawn in between other mobs. That is, can be pulled, but is almost never found alone (a Gold Wurm could be an exception).
- Have NO green drops, but a unique gold inscribable skin that only the gold monsters drop.
- Have no Boss aura, they are just HUGE instead. Their elites can't be captured.
- They'll deal double damage and have resisteance to hexes and conditions, and give TRIPLE experience.
- Have random professions and skillbars.
- Generate one drop for each human party member when diying, or, even better, drop a chest usable once by anyone.
- Increase the Lucky title by 250 if you find one (that will happen when a party member aggroes them) and another 740 if you manage to kill them, for a total of 1000. Give 50 to unlucky for each ally that dies by their claws, and 500 if he wipes out the party.
- If he wipes out the party, he banishes.

There could a 1 chance out of 5.000 of finding one in Normal mode, and 1 out of 500 in Hard mode.
A reason to go out always prepared!

Yesh.... I like this...

Simple way to prevent farming: When killed, it spawns in a different zone.

This makes any kind of organized farming or repeat entry impossible, and it becomes a truly random encounter. It also doesn't need to be that much harder, since it becomes unviable to prepare for it, but due to randomness of the encounter will still be a tough challenge.

And given the randomness, it wouldn't be killed more than 10-20 times a day, which means it can carry some truly epic loot.

I like the idea of good rewards without the ability for farm/bot by going into the same spot over and over.

Oh... oh... and they could have 'gold' skin, and one unique monster skill (monster skill icons are gold, remember? XD).

A 'Gold Wurm' could have the skill 'Swallow' that eats one of the players and removes him out of battle until he is killed, diseased or hit with multiple hit skills. XD...

this is what i feel a boss should be. If he's always in the same spot, u get tired of seeing him.

Just one idea, and im throwing this out there, what if this supposed creature could have more than 1 elite skill, say have 3. He changes every day and this would make things more the challenge.

Ive had an idea similar to this (i already typed up the lore).

The who:
The Blackfire Guild

The Blackfire Guild is a powerful guild based in an uncharted island in the Clashing Seas. They are comprised of powerful fighters from all over the world.

They have challenged the various clans and guilds of Tyria, Cantha and Elona into combat.

The what:
The Blackfire Guild has sent squads to defeat and claim trophies from all over the world.

The how:
Each time you enter an explorable zone in Hardmode with a full party, there is a minute chance you will encounter a Blackfire squad.

You will know if you entered a Blackfire zone by the following things:

1) All the monsters in the zone are dead.
2) There will be bonfires and the sky is pitch black.

The why:
The Blackfire Guild wants your head. If you beat them in combat, they will reward you with special untradeable weapons and armor pieces. These will bear the mark of a defeated Blackfire member. These weapons and armor glow in darkness and eminate black flames (hence the name....Blackfire).

The weapons are customized to the account and can only be traded between characters of the account. They cannot be sold to the merchant or dropped.

If you gain 5 Blackfire Armor pieces, you can forge a Blackfire armor set from the Blackfire Smiths. The armor pieces also cannot be traded or sold or dropped.

Defeating them also grants you access to their Guild Hall, where you might meet other players who have earned their respect.

The what again?
The Blackfire squads use powerful builds, designed to pulverize and dominate. These builds will be based on past champion builds, existing meta, or other builds, but they will constantly change.

I have drawings somewhere on my PC...ill upload it when i get home.
